Photo Shoot

On the day of the photo shoot, I was working with a professional photographer, using a Cannon DSLR camera, taking many shots in various poses and positions. These pictures will be suitable for my magazine as it will represent the genre I will target.

Working with a professional photographer was exciting due to the fact that I was able to get good images for my magazine with the correct composition. Also, we had artificial lighting which made the pictures better as we had the correct lighting, if the lighting was not in the correct position such as covering my eyes as I wear glasses we were able to move the lighting into a position where it was not in the way and ruin the image. I printed off inspirations for the main front cover image so I tried to replicate those poses but them turned out to be better for my double page spread image, so I had to take more that would be more suitable for the front cover.
The image I was look for, was big enough to fill the page but not too big that it would take over the whole page. You would still be able to see all the text but it may overlap the title, to suggest that my magazine is popular enough so my readers will already know its ‘The Vibes’ from the style, house colour and part of the title.

The Camera, Cannon DSLR, was interesting to use as it was my first time using a professional camera. I learnt that you were able to hold down the shutter to take a burst image; this was to capture images where the ‘model’ was in their natural style. This took many various pictures over a very short amount of time.

This image is my favorite as the lighting is perfect as it is not too bright or too dark and the composition is correct too as it is pleasing to look at with the contrast of the light pink and the dark black. The image is a full shot therefore big enough to fill the front page and it looks as tho its a very famous celebrity. This image will be the main image on the front cover as it shows an interesting pose and it will link with the main article which is included in the magazine.

This image is quite dark compared to the other one and I am slouching which will not appeal for the reader. However, I am looking directly into the camera which shows non verbal communication. This is a way of interacting with the reader but not actually talking to them, it makes the reader feel involved with the magazine and give them a sense of friendship. The image is a mid shot which will not match the style I am after for my magazine. This particular image does not look professional enough to be the front cover image.

My third image was intended to be for my double page spread. I am facing a little to the left which is where I will place the text for the article so it will look as though im facing the text. The picture is little dark but you will look good on my double page spread as my magazine will not be bright and flashy. It is a mid shot so it will be quite big and it will be the first thing the reader will see on that page. I have my hands held up to cause a contrast from the bright parts on my hoodie to the darker parts. This will match my house style.

The fourth image is very similar to the first one but its more casual. It is a full shot which is the correct size for the front page. This looks as though it was paparazzi who took it and it will make the reader feel as though they are able to see in to the 'celebrities' life, making the magazine voyageur. The lighting on this image is a mixture of dark and light. On the left its dark and on the right its lighter making a contrast. My arms are in an awkward position which I do not feel will look good on my magazine.

The final image is a mid shot of a side view which would look good as a smaller picture on my contents page
